1935

The Original

KitKat® was first launched in the UK with the name ‘Chocolate Crisp’ – even back then it had the famous four fingers.

1937

Hello KitKat®

The new iconic name and brand logo of KitKat® first grace our packaging.

1944

The first variation

During the Second World War, KitKat® was made using dark chocolate, and the packaging was blue rather than our iconic red.

1958

Birth of the break

The famous ‘Have a break, have a KitKat®’ strapline was first used. It’s been with us ever since.

Half the size, all the taste

Now a classic, the first Two-finger KitKat® was launched.

Introducing KitKat® Chunky

The original Chunky is introduced and becomes an instant favourite.

KitKat® Ice cream

The first KitKat® ice cream is launched, providing a perfect break for a sunny day.

The first KitKat® Chocolatory is launched in Japan – allowing fans to design their own flavour of KitKat® for the ultimate personalized break. Our Australian Chocolatory wasn’t far behind.
